What is WILD?

Wild food is anything that is edible that has had no management or intervention to increase its production. A wild food is as it sounds, wild as it would be found in nature. Although, it is increasingly hard to locate and source wild foods in our modern day, we still wanted to include wild foods in our diet and on our menu. Our main ingredient with the wild claim to fame is our Chaga mushroom. Hunted, sourced and picked right off the tree from our friend in Eastern Canada to us at Wild & Raw.

What is RAW?

Raw means the integrity of the ingredient is intact due to lack of processing, pasteurizing and heating, which eliminate the benefits of your fruit and veggies. We keep things in the raw to help preserve the optimal levels of nutrients, vitamins, minerals and live enzymes found in the natural state of food.

What is ORGANIC?

Even if you’re consuming food that is 100% raw, it isn’t optimal unless the raw ingredients are organic. Organic means the produce is grown without chemical fertilizers, pesticides or herbicides to make beverages that are naturally delicious, residue-free and sustainable. If it says Organic, you can enjoy consuming with a clean and healthy conscience. We are committed to sourcing as much local and sustainable produce that is Organic, GMO free available to us and conscious of the environment.

Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) originated in ancient China and has evolved over thousands of years. TCM practitioners use herbal medicines and various mind & body practices to treat and prevent health issues. When diagnosing all aspects of health, TCM practitioners look to the Three Treasures to find the root of the issue in the mind, body, spirit. The Three Treasures of Traditional Chinese Medicine are Jing, Qi and Shen. Ancient Chinese herbs and superfoods to spot throughout our menu are schizandra, sacred lotus & pine pollen, reishi and other medicinal mushrooms.

What is JING, QI & SHEN?

JING, or essence, is the source of all life and is the most dense of the three treasures. Yin in nature and responsible for governing growth, development and sexuality.

QI, known by many cultures, gives us the ability to activate and move our bodies and is the most refined treasure. Yang in nature and responsible for governing the manifestation of energy and movement.

SHEN is the most subtle of the three treasures and is the vitality behind Jing and Qi. Shen represents the spirit and is responsible for shaping and governing our personality, emotional and mental aspects.

Every day your body goes through a natural chemical process known as oxidation. Normal body functions such as breathing or physical activity produce substances called “free radicals”. Free radicals are highly reactive chemicals that have the potential to harm cells. In addition, such activities as smoking, drinking too much alcohol, or even getting stressed can lead to the acceleration of free radicals. Antioxidants are chemicals that neutralize free radicals, thus preventing them from inflicting damage. The body relies on external sources in one’s diet to extract the antioxidants its needs to defend itself against free radicals. Many of our fruits and vegetables harness this power, most notably the chaga mushroom.

Adaptogens are plants, herbs, fruits and flowers that have harnessed nature’s strength to combat stress, regulate and normalize the body’s functioning and systems without interfering with the body’s natural state.
